What Our Guests Are Saying About Us…
Candace M. – New York★★★★★Glad we stayed at this historic spot. Read More
Staying at Gakona Lodge and Trading Post felt like a true Alaskan experience. Far from the cruise ships and tour buses we so often encountered while traveling through Alaska, this authentic roadhouse is definitely off the beaten path, and that’s a good thing.

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska. Gorgeous, rustic little cabins, with a restaurant and bar just a few steps away. Price was really reasonable, and the owner Clif was really genuine and welcoming. I would HIGHLY recommend this as a stop if you’re driving around the area!

Best Cabin we stayed during our 9-day Alaska trip. Better than we expected. Featured 3 bedrooms, super close to Gakona river, super nice owner, great food.
Sierra Sly Fox – California★★★★★Rustic Charm. Read More
We loved staying here. Our cabin was clean and comfortable. The grounds were historic and interesting. The little restaurant was fun and the food was pretty good. I would stay here again if ever in the area.

We were there in early August, 2016. We had two rooms – including the haunted one (and I am not gonna say anything else about that). Rooms were clean and cozy, the bar was super fun and the restaurant was great. Everyone talked with each other – stranger or local. I loved it, and can’t say enough nice about it. If you are in that area – where the Gakona River empties into the Copper River – you will miss a lot of fun unless you make it a point to stay at least one night.

Rustic historical lodge with family oriented owners. We enjoyed every minute of our time at the lodge. Rebecca and Clif went out of their way to accommodate us and made us feel at home. We enjoyed our time visiting with them as well as their adorable kids. The food was great and the rooms were comfortable. Would recommend staying here if you really want to experience Alaska!
Bill C.★★★★★My New Favorite Place! Read More
Of all my travels around Alaska, this place is my favorite place! A genuinely awesome place to stay. Very authentic experience staying and the hospitality was excellent! If there were one place in the state I would most like to go back to I would choose this one!
Shane R. – Alaska★★★★★Real Alaskan Friendly People. Read More
This place is magic. The rooms are authentic old time alaska, the Gakona beer is fantastic, but the people are just wonderful. This is a rustic place, so if your lookn for a latte, keep on heading down the road but if you want something real, it’s a must stop for a night or two.
Michael – Hawaii★★★★★“Best Stay and Best Dinner” Read More
On our 18 day vacation to Alaska with our two grandchildren we all agreed that this was the best stay and the best dinner. I slept so well here despite the midnight sun! The owner, Cliff, and his family and staff were very friendly and helpful. I only wish that we had reserved for more than one night! Don’t miss it!
