Booking Holds/Confirmed Reservations
To ensure the validity of a reservation, avoid fraudulent bookings, and hold all parties to a reservation accountable to the terms, conditions, and policies associated with that reservation, a valid credit must be held on file by Gakona Lodge for a reservation to be valid. Without this card on file in our booking system, Gakona Lodge reserves the right to cancel or reject a booking without notice for violation of this policy/booking condition. Please ensure that you check the “save card for future payments” box when you are making your initial room or adventure reservation and deposit.
Rates quoted are based on check-in date and length of stay shown. Should you depart early prior to the departure date confirmed for any reason, hotel may impose an early departure fee. Check-in time for all stays is 4 P.M. on the listed day of arrival. Check-out time for all stays is 10 A.M. on the listed day of departure.
Your reservations will be held until 7 P.M. local time unless a late check-in is arranged in advance. To hold a room, a credit card guarantee of payment must be received at the hotel at the time of reservation. Rooms may not be available until after the designated check-in time 4 P.M. Occupancy prior to check-in time on the date of the reservation may not be confirmed unless the hotel has availability and payment for the previous night is received by the hotel prior to arrival either by credit card accepted by the hotel.
Rates are confirmed in United States Dollars unless otherwise specified in your e-mail confirmation details. Rates confirmed are for the number of occupants listed in your e-mail confirmation, per room, per night and do not include additional charges for rollaway beds or extra people and will apply only to rooms booked as part of this reservation. Tour and package rates vary according to the features of the specific package or program offered. The applicable charges for the packages confirmed are indicated in your e-mail confirmation details. Applicable taxes, service charges, and value added tax (VAT), if applicable, will be added to the hotel bill unless indicated as a package feature. The taxes, service charges and value added tax shown on your e-mail confirmation are those currently in effect. Taxes, service charges, etc. are subject to change without notice according to local law.
Should you need to cancel, please do so before the required cancellation deadlines listed below to avoid cancellation fees. Cancellation of reservations for which payment was guaranteed or for which a deposit has been sent must reach the hotel by 7 P.M. on the cancellation date indicated to avoid your credit card being charged. Cancellation numbers are issued at the time of cancellation provided the reservation is cancelled by the date and time specified in your e-mail confirmation details. Please make a note of the cancellation number for your records in the event of questions regarding cancellation of guaranteed reservations. Any changes to the arrival date, departure date, or room type of this reservation is subject to the hotel’s availability at the time the change is requested and may result in a possible rate change and/or service fee. We reserve the right to cancel or modify reservations where it appears that a customer has engaged in fraudulent or inappropriate activity or under other circumstances where it appears that the reservations contain or resulted from a mistake or error.

All room rates given and charged up front are based on double occupancy, regardless of lodging type. An additional occupancy fee will be charged for each adult on a reservation that increases the per rental occupancy to more than two adults. For 2019, the additional occupancy rate is $20 per additional adult.
All buildings at the Gakona Lodge are 100% smoke free. Smoking is allowed on the property, but only in designated areas. Violating this policy by smoking in any building will result in a minimum $250 cleaning fee as carpets and upholstery will require deep cleaning that will take them out of inventory for at least 24 hours.
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in any building at Gakona Lodge. They are welcome on the grounds and inside the Trappers Den Tavern. One of our first guests ever was severely allergic to animal dander, and this prompted us to initiate this policy. Violation of this policy will result in the same minimum $250 cleaning fee as results from smoking.
If you need your pet to be kept indoors during your stay, we suggest you contact the Snowshoe Haven as they do allow pets in their facilities for a nominal additional pet fee. We are sorry about this one because we love animals, but we cannot compromise the health and safety of any of our other guests.
At check-in, all guests will be required to re-read these policies and put your credit card of choice on file/run a 100% refundable charge of $250 for incidental charges. This charge is to cover any possible damages done to the facilities during your stay with us. After your room/lodging rental is cleaned and inspected on the day of your checkout, your incidental deposit will be completely refunded to your credit card should no damages or policy violations exist.
For billing and occupancy purposes, an adult is any person that is 12 years of age or more. This is the minimum age limit for passengers/fishermen in rafts on the Klutina River as well. So, it has been determined to be the line between children and adults for all billing matters. In all other matters, such as the right to book a room independently, drink alcohol, etc., federal, state, and local definitions of a minor and an adult apply.

All Gakona Lodge policies have been derived in order to provide guidance to and manage expectations of customers. In addition, they exist for the mutual protection of both Gakona Lodge and our guests/customers. As such, new policies will inevitably be added as we learn and grow, and existing policies may be changed. So long as we have your contact information, we will do our very best to ensure that you are aware of any policy changes as they may apply to you. However, we reserve the right to hold guests and our staff accountable to all current policies and/or policies that were in affect at the time that you took part in or made use of our goods or services.
All policy additions and changes will be kept up to date on this page, and we encourage you to visit this page periodically to ensure you don’t miss out on any important information.
