Gakona Lodge, located in the heart of Alaska, is the state's oldest continuously operating roadhouse, offering visitors a rustic and historic retreat. Situated along Mile 2 of the Tok Cutoff Road in Gakona, the lodge embraces its authentic past while providing modern amenities for travelers seeking an Alaskan adventure. Open seasonally from June 1st through Labor Day, Gakona Lodge welcomes guests looking to experience the state’s breathtaking wilderness and rich history.

🏡 Rustic & Historic Accommodations

The lodge features ten rooms in the main building, each maintaining its historic charm, with a mix of private and shared bathroom accommodations. For those seeking a more secluded stay, three rustic cabins with various bedroom and bathroom configurations are available. In addition, two new cabins built in 2024 offer a private deck overlooking the river, providing a perfect spot to unwind while enjoying the Alaskan scenery.

The property retains its original character, with uneven floors and creaky doors, truly immersing visitors in a step-back-in-time experience.

Guests can enjoy outdoor excursions, including guided rafting and fishing trips on the Gulkana River.
